The Challenge

In Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), over 80% of healthcare facilities still lack reliable access to medical oxygen. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed this urgent gap—more than 500,000 LMIC patients require oxygen daily. Rural regions are the most vulnerable due to poor infrastructure, high transport costs, and limited oxygen production capacity.

Our Scalable Solution

O₂ Medi Pty Ltd is a South African healthcare startup preparing to launch a pilot program consisting of nine decentralized medical oxygen plants across the Southern African region, including South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.

Our first pilot project will be implemented between the Limpopo and Rustenburg regions in South Africa, strategically selected for their high healthcare burden and limited access to oxygen.

Each decentralized plant will:

• Operate using renewable energy sources (solar and wind)
  
• Produce high-purity medical oxygen through advanced cryogenic filtration
  
• Deploy AI-powered training and IoT tracking through our Mediflow AI platform
  
• Create a scalable and resilient supply model for healthcare facilities in underserved areas
